Magic Sticks

Riddle: There was a very rich and famous king. One day, he got robbed and all of his riches were stolen. To figure out who did it, he gave everyone in the town a magic stick. The king said that whoever was the thief, there stick would grow 2 inches when they sleep. The next morning the king came and checked everyone in there homes. Nobody's stick grew longer, but it was obvious to the king who stole the riches. Can you figure it out?

Answer: The person who stole the riches cut 2 inches off, but the sticks were never magical. So that person was arrested.
